The Whole Leader

This practicum introduces students to The Whole Leader, a holistic leadership health framework, setting a foundation of leadership health that will aid in ministry effectiveness and longevity.

This course introduces students to the importance of holistic leadership health when pursuing any level of ministerial leadership. Using The Whole Leader framework, students will assess their individual holistic leadership health and take steps to become healthier through the 6 month practicum. Through guided journaling, 1:1 executive coaching, and monthly mentor meetings, students will set the foundation for holistic health before receiving their credentials. This foundation will contribute to ministry leadership longevity as students transition to a lifetime of service.

The Whole Leader is a comprehensive picture of holistic leadership health. It was created by leadership and holistic health practitioners (pastors, missionaries, consultants, healthcare providers, scholars), with decades of experience both leading with holistic health and helping others get healthier.

Bill Dogterom, D. Min, is professor of pastoral ministries and spiritual formation at Vanguard University. He teaches courses in pastoral ministry, spirituality, and practical theology for the undergraduate program. He brings decades of pastoral experience as an Ordained minister for the Assemblies of God and 25-year senior pastor journey to bear in his teaching while still serving the local church as the Teaching & Care Pastor of Garden Church in Long Beach, CA. Dr.

Dogterom is passionate about students, their spiritual formation, preparation for vocational ministry, and service as and to the church.

When can I start the course?

Whenever you want! LEADSOM is designed to let the student learn at their own pace. The only element of the course that has a specific date is the Live Session, which is offered 3 times per year, with the student only required to attend 1.

What happens if I have a question or need help?

You can ask your Live Instructor! Although LEADSOM classes are entirely online, that doesn't mean you're on your own. Every class has a subject matter expert who is available to answer questions and provide any help necessary. Additionally, they will grade your final projects as well as lead the Live Session discussion, so you will get to know them well.

I've already taken some Berean courses, do I get credit for them in LEADSOM?

Yes! All LEADSOM courses have a Berean equivalent so if you've already started your credentialing journey and want to continue with LEADSOM you can do that. In fact, on every course page you will be able to see the Berean equivalent. If you have any questions, just contact our registrar and submit your courses for a review.
