Dr. Rick Wadholm

Dr. Rick Wadholm Jr. is an ordained Assemblies of God (USA) minister and Associate Professor of Old Testament at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) in Springfield, Missouri. With over two decades of pastoral experience across various denominations—including Assemblies of God, Mennonite, Reformed, and Methodist traditions—he brings a rich, ecumenical perspective to his academic and ministerial work.​

Dr. Wadholm earned his Ph.D. in Biblical and Pentecostal Studies from Bangor University in Wales, UK, where his dissertation focused on "A Theology of the Spirit in the Former Prophets: A Pentecostal Perspective." He also holds a Master of Divinity with Honours in Theology and Old Testament from Providence Theological Seminary in Manitoba, Canada, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Global Studies from Trinity Bible College in North Dakota.​

In addition to his role at AGTS, Dr. Wadholm serves as a visiting lecturer of Old Testament at several international institutions, including Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in the Philippines, Addis Ababa Graduate School in Ethiopia, and the Middle East Evangelical Theological Seminary in Egypt. His teaching portfolio encompasses a wide range of courses, from Old Testament literature and theology to hermeneutics and biblical languages.​

An active scholar, Dr. Wadholm has authored and edited multiple books and articles on topics such as Pentecostal theology, hermeneutics, and biblical interpretation. Notable works include "A Theology of the Spirit in the Former Prophets: A Pentecostal Perspective" and "Receiving Scripture in the Pentecostal Tradition: A Reception History." He also serves as the Book Review Editor for the Canadian-American Theological Review and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society for Pentecostal Studies and the Society of Biblical Literature.​

Dr. Wadholm is a sought-after speaker, regularly presenting at conferences, churches, and academic institutions both in the United States and internationally. His commitment to integrating rigorous scholarship with practical ministry makes him a respected voice in both academic and ecclesial settings.​

When can I start the course? 

Whenever you want! LEADSOM is designed to let the student learn at their own pace. The only element of the course that has a specific date is the Live Session, which is offered 3 times per year, with the student only required to attend 1.

What happens if I have a question or need help?

You can ask your Live Instructor! Although LEADSOM classes are entirely online, that doesn't mean you're on your own. Every class has a subject matter expert who is available to answer questions and provide any help necessary. Additionally, they will grade your final projects as well as lead the Live Session discussion, so you will get to know them well.

I've already taken some Berean courses, do I get credit for them in LEADSOM?

Yes! All LEADSOM courses have a Berean equivalent so if you've already started your credentialing journey and want to continue with LEADSOM you can do that. In fact, on every course page you will be able to see the Berean equivalent. If you have any questions, just contact our registrar and submit your courses for a review.
