Rev. Paul Lewis, Ph.D.

Dr. Paul W. Lewis is a distinguished scholar and educator specializing in historical theology and intercultural studies at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS), part of Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. He has served in various leadership roles, including Associate Dean of AGTS from 2016 to 2023.​

Dr. Lewis's academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Religion from Baylor University, an M.A. and B.A. in History from Missouri State University, and an M.Div. in Missions from AGTS. Ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1999, he has combined scholarly pursuits with extensive missionary work. Alongside his wife, Dr. Eveline Lewis, he served as a missionary in Northern Asia and the Pacific Rim for 23 years, including a tenure as Academic Dean at Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in the Philippines.​

An accomplished author and editor, Dr. Lewis has contributed to numerous publications, focusing on Pentecostal theology and missiology. His recent works include co-authoring Christ Among the Nations: Narratives of Transformation in Global Mission and Introduction to Biblical Interpretation: Participating in God’s Story of Redemption. ​

Dr. Lewis has also held prominent positions in professional organizations, serving as President of the Association of Professors of Mission from 2021 to 2022 and currently serving on the board of the American Society of Missiology. ​

He and his wife, Dr. Eveline Lewis, who chairs the Business Department at Evangel University, have two daughters, a son-in-law, and two granddaughters

When can I start the course? 

Whenever you want! LEADSOM is designed to let the student learn at their own pace. The only element of the course that has a specific date is the Live Session, which is offered 3 times per year, with the student only required to attend 1.

What happens if I have a question or need help?

You can ask your Live Instructor! Although LEADSOM classes are entirely online, that doesn't mean you're on your own. Every class has a subject matter expert who is available to answer questions and provide any help necessary. Additionally, they will grade your final projects as well as lead the Live Session discussion, so you will get to know them well.

I've already taken some Berean courses, do I get credit for them in LEADSOM?

Yes! All LEADSOM courses have a Berean equivalent so if you've already started your credentialing journey and want to continue with LEADSOM you can do that. In fact, on every course page you will be able to see the Berean equivalent. If you have any questions, just contact our registrar and submit your courses for a review.
